AI and Society: “How political is AI?”

In 2025, we are launching a new event series with human Magazin at Salon Luitpold in Munich: Technological disruption through artificial intelligence is changing the way we live and work. It goes hand in hand with socio-technological, ethical and political challenges that affect us all. Yes, AI harbors numerous risks. But AI also has enormous potential to help us overcome the multiple crises of our time. With this series, we want to talk in more depth about how we can meet the challenges of AI and what role knowledge from the social sciences and philosophy plays in this. We want to encourage people to face both the opportunities and the challenges of AI constructively.

On the first evening of the event series, we will discuss the social, moral and political impact of AI technologies on our society and how we can better evaluate them with the help of social sciences and philosophy in order to counteract negative consequences. Questions we will ask ourselves: What does responsibility mean in the context of AI? What role does the way we talk about AI play? How can criticism of AI be constructive?

Panel and discussion: Prof. Ruth Müller, Prof. Benjamin Rathgeber (Center for Responsible AI Technologies)
Moderation: Dr. Rebekka Reinhard & Thomas Vašek (Editor-in-chief human Magazine)

Conception: Kathrin Hertle (Managing Director CReAITech), Dr. Rebekka Reinhard (founder / Editor-in-chief human Magazin)
