From 2022, the Center for Responsible AI Technologies will be researching the use of AI in laser therapy for basal cell carcinoma, endoscopy and radiology in the MedAIcine pilot project. Central philosophical, ethical and social science issues are being worked out on the basis of use cases.

The parameters to be investigated in this project include AI as a black box for users, the question of the trustworthiness of AI-based decisions, the question of biases in AI-based analyses, the participatory design of AI and the ethical question of responsibility as to the threshold values above which AI should be used.
